Bridge & Abroad101 Offer $10,000 in Teach Abroad Scholarships

Abroad101, the world’s first and largest study abroad review website, has launched brand new resources for teach abroad including $10,000 worth of scholarships from BridgeAbroad, a global leader in language programs. This expansion will serve an increasing number of students and post-graduates looking to teach english abroad, while helping the startup increase their user-base and community of travelers.

BridgeAbroad will offer five $2,000 scholarships valid for 2012 and 2013 teach abroad programs in Argentina, Brazil or Chile. "Bridge is really excited about our partnership with Abroad101. We think it’s very important to get the word out to students, faculty and study abroad advisors about the value of completing a short-term teach abroad program. Students gain invaluable leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills, as well as strategies for overcoming cultural differences and misunderstandings,” says Lisa Rooney, Vice President of Teacher Training and Education Abroad at BridgeAbroad.

Abroad101 and BridgeAbroad are embracing the viral marketing prowess of Facebook to collect applications, expanding their reach globally. Once students submit their application response online, they are able to share their entry with friends and accumulate “likes” via Facebook. Each submission will be judged on both the quality of the response and the greatest number of “likes.”

“Our overwhelming success with the study abroad market has propelled our expansion to providing resources for those looking to teach abroad. Many of our post-abroad students indicate an interest in returning to teach after graduation. We are thrilled to offer these new resources to help students select the best teach abroad program for their needs,” says Michael Stone, President and Founder of Abroad101.

“Bridge's teach abroad programs offer amazing opportunities for personal and professional growth, and we are happy to have Abroad101 help us to encourage students to participate through the Teach Abroad Giveaway Contest,” says Rooney.

Abroad101 has provided $37,000 worth of scholarships through program providers in the past, and is even featuring a second round of study abroad scholarships through CEA due to former success. The deadline to apply for the BridgeAbroad scholarship is April 15th and information for entries can be found on the Abroad101 website here.
