She also shared that presenters enjoyed the lively discussions and interactive atmosphere, with many feeling the impact of their sessions through the enthusiastic post-conference testimonials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2-the-power-of-your-mind\">The power of your mind<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As a majority of Preply Online Teaching Conference attendees were independent online English tutors, one of the sessions that resonated the most was Ola Kowalska\u2019s talk, \u201cThe power of your mind: How changing the way you think will guarantee you more students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A business coach for language teachers, Kowalska first emphasized how societal perceptions and, more significantly, teacher mindsets shape their success and job satisfaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf you want to thrive in that job, you need to take radical responsibility, and that starts with your mindset,\u201c Kowalksa advised teachers, as she shared strategies to overcome negative thoughts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kowalska also guided teachers on growing their businesses strategically, from crafting offers aligned with their goals to mastering sales. Finally, she challenged them to confront limiting beliefs, practice thought-shifting, and understand business fundamentals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJust start learning about [business],&#8221; Kowalska encouraged tutors. &#8220;It\u2019s not that we have to know all this stuff and feel confident. When we train to be a teacher, we also need to be trained to write materials as well.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To prepare for the session, Hughes collected questions from Preply teachers about writing materials and addressed several of them during his workshop. He gave tips on topics such as incorporating authentic images, <a href=\"https:\/\/bridge.edu\/tefl\/blog\/needs-assessment-teaching-english\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">avoiding common mistakes in assessments<\/a>, and designing original, marketable resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One key focus of his presentation was time management for writing class materials. Hughes suggested strategies such as choosing a dedicated time of day for writing, taking breaks during the process, and <a href=\"https:\/\/bridge.edu\/tefl\/blog\/free-esl-lesson-plans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leveraging resources designed for English teachers<\/a>.
