Hailing from Chile and teaching at Bridge since July 2021, I hold a BA in English as a Second Language. My teaching philosophy revolves around a communicative approach, emphasizing contextualized learning and creating a student-centred environment. Encouraging active engagement, I believe in fostering a supportive atmosphere where making mistakes is viewed as an integral part of the language learning journey. In incorporating culture into lessons, I delve into my students’ backgrounds, including their work, nationality, and current affairs, facilitating meaningful conversations to establish rapport. Essential tools in my teaching arsenal include conversational flashcards to initiate discussions, vocabulary expansion with a focus on pronunciation, and engaging activities like role-playing and critical thinking. These techniques aim to enhance the learning process and create an empathic and respectful classroom dynamic.
