The Impact of English on My Professional Growth: Leticia’s Story

Learning a language doesn’t just transform how we communicate. It can also open unexpected doors in our careers, strengthen our confidence, and give us tools to grow. Leticia from Villalba Aceros, a participant in Bridge’s program, BridgePersonal, confirms this with her own experience: today she feels more prepared to face professional challenges in a global company where English is part of her daily routine.

“I work in a company that operates in 80 countries, so I often need to communicate in English. Before, I didn’t feel confident, but now I understand much more in meetings and I can participate.”

Leticia started her course with a very clear motivation: to expand her personal and professional opportunities. Whether it was to collaborate with international teams or simply better understand a song in English, her goal was always to grow.

“From the beginning, I felt that learning English would allow me to meet more people, dare to work in contexts where Spanish isn’t spoken, and even enjoy simple things like music more. All of that motivated me.”

A Learning Experience Designed for Progress

Leticia has been in the program for several months and points to three key factors that helped her stay consistent: the patience of her Global Teachers, Bridge’s methodology, and the technological tools available. But what really made the difference was the personalized focus she received in her live classes.

“My teacher, Adri, was wonderful. She took the initiative to adapt our classes to topics related to my work. For example, we started discussing environmental care and sustainability, which are very relevant in my field. That made everything more meaningful and helped me apply what I learned directly to my daily work.”

Thanks to that adaptation, Leticia was able to start using English in concrete tasks: preparing presentations, participating in global meetings, writing clearer emails with more confidence, and even building stronger relationships with colleagues from other regions.

She also values the diversity of Bridge’s teaching team.

“You don’t just learn the language, you also discover other cultures through the teachers. That broadens the way you express yourself, think, and listen.”

Staying Consistent to Reach My Goals

Like many working adults, Leticia had to find a routine that allowed her to make progress without neglecting other responsibilities. The key? A mix of internal motivation and program flexibility.

“The need to communicate with people who don’t speak Spanish pushed me to keep going. But what also helped was that the classes fit well with my schedule. That gave me peace of mind. Today I can say that English is part of my routine.”

Her advice for those just starting out is clear:

“Being able to communicate in another language is something wonderful. Don’t lose motivation. Be patient with yourself. Learning takes time, but it’s really worth it.”

Leticia also highlights how much her confidence has grown thanks to the frequency of her classes.

“A lot. Having two classes per week gives me greater confidence and fluency to communicate with my colleagues in other parts of the world.”

A Real Tool for Professional Growth

Although language progress may feel slow at the beginning, Leticia sees her learning as a cumulative process. Each class, each new word, each correction brings her closer to her goal: feeling ready for any international challenge.

“Today I have no doubt that English has opened new doors for me. It gave me more confidence, helped me expand my network, and allows me to keep developing. I want to keep learning, I want to keep growing.”

For her, learning English was not just another course. It was a strategic decision that is paying off. And, as she herself says, the process continues:

This doesn’t end here. I see it as a path I’m just beginning to walk with more confidence. And I’m very happy I took this step.”

Conclusion: Learning That Transforms Lives

Leticia’s story is a powerful reminder of what it means to commit to learning a language. It’s not just about reaching a level—it’s about building confidence, gaining autonomy, and being better prepared for an increasingly global workplace.

In her case, English didn’t just help her understand more; it allowed her to be heard and contribute more value in her professional environment.

And even though she still sees herself as “in progress,” the impact is already clear: more participation, more confidence, and more connection with people from other cultures. It all started with one simple decision: daring to learn.
