The Young Explorers Academy is an International Early Years & Primary School Centre in the coastal city of Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah in Malaysian Borneo.
We are located in Likas Bay, a beautiful suburb of Kota Kinabalu surrounded by Wetlands, the South China Sea and with views of Mount Kinabalu itself.
The Academy caters to Expatriate and Sabahan families whom live in the popular Likas Bay neighbourhood. Young Explorer’s opened in September 2015 and grew quickly, becoming one of the top International Early Years & Primary Education centres in the city, today we cater to 70+ students.
We offer International Early Years and Primary programmes designed to nurture children’s inquisitive minds through a structured syllabus of experiential learning, academic disciplines, creative communication and cultural awareness.
We follow the British Early Years (preschool) and Primary curriculums, mixed with Malaysian and Sabahan culture, Environmental stewardship and Mandarin.
The Academy provides a safe, happy learning environment and is equipped with the latest technical and educational equipment.
We pride ourselves on our low child to teacher ratio and maintain small classes with a maximum of twelve children at a time.
Our academic team consists of Senior and Junior Home Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Support staff. Working at the Young Explorers Academy is not like any other teaching job. We are a fun team of local and international teachers with a great work ethic and culture. As a team we look out for and support each other; engaging with children (and their parents) can be exhausting at times, we provide a safe and rewarding environment to work in, we celebrate our team’s successes and enjoy regular social and team building events.
