We are looking for energetic, young (or young at heart!) international primary teachers who are ready for an overseas adventure!
This role provides the right candidate with a unique opportunity to explore a beautiful part of Asia whilst expanding your teaching experience over a 6-month period.
Included with the package is on-site accommodation (utilities and internet included), flight allowance paid upon completion of the placement, shared use of a car and a monthly stipend.
As a visiting international teacher, the goal of the role is to complement our permanent academic team with your own professional input. Throughout your placement, you will be encouraged to contribute new ideas, alternative teaching methods, creative concepts and to lead projects/lessons on subject matters you are passionate about.
The right candidates will have native or near native English language skills, ideally have experience with an international primary curriculum (UK or IPC preferred), possess or be undertaking a Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate Qualification in Education or Teaching and be able to demonstrate a number of special interest topics or issues they could use in primary aged projects or lessons – examples would be environmental concerns, animal conservation, a foreign language or performing arts.
You will be expected to deliver around 22 teaching hours per week to primary aged classes not more than 12 in size – some lessons will be delivered jointly with our permanent teachers.
Classes run from 8:00am to 3:00pm Mondays to Fridays with afternoons set aside for lesson planning and preparation.
You will be based in Kota Kinabalu, in the beautiful state of Sabah on Malaysian Borneo. Sabah is a paradise surrounded by beautiful islands, pristine beaches, rich tropical rainforests and South East Asia’s tallest mountains – well worth a climb! English is the main language spoken throughout the state – communication is not an issue, there is also a huge variety of cuisine and food at very affordable prices! You will never be short of options for adventure here and if you wish to explorer further afield the international airport has low cost flights all over Asia.
We are a diverse, friendly team of Malaysians and Expatriates running the Young Explorers Academy, we’re excited to welcome new people to our family and operate a buddy system to help you settle in and get around.
If this appeals to you, please send us your CV along with a cover letter introducing yourself, your teaching experience to date and describing any special interest topics or subjects you are passionate about!
