Panelists

Jennie Reed
Jennie Reed is a certified Neurolanguage Coach who specializes in working with non-native English teachers, with a focus on English pronunciation. Her passion is helping educators and learners alike speak English confidently, regardless of where they are or who they are communicating with. While pronunciation was not a primary focus in her early teaching career, Jennie’s perspective shifted after completing her DipTESOL in 2019, where she realized that clear pronunciation is key to confident communication. Now, Jennie is dedicated to empowering other teachers to improve their own pronunciation skills and effectively teach them to their students.
Paula Runnals
Paula holds a BA in Spanish from the University of California, Berkeley and an MA in Education from Stanford University. She has over 15 years of experience as a language teacher. She has taught Spanish as a foreign language in California middle and high schools, and to adults in Australia. She has also taught English as a second language and test preparation courses in Spain, New Zealand, Australia and the US. She has specialized in the instruction of Academic English and Pronunciation. Currently, she is a Lecturer at Purdue University in the Oral English Proficiency Program and a lecturer in UC Berkeley’s Summer English Language Studies Program.
Karen Taylor
Karen has been teaching English and training teachers for over 25 years. Reflective of her combined interests in language teaching methodology, pronunciation, and educational technology, Karen is co-author of the Color Vowel Approach, a brain-based pronunciation teaching method, and co-creator of Blue Canoe, a mobile application that provides learners with engaging English pronunciation practice and methodical feedback. She holds an MA in TESOL from the Monterey Institute for International Studies at Middlebury (USA), and a BA in English Literature from Georgetown University in Washington DC (USA).
Shelynn Riel
Shélynn (Shey) Riel is an international English language educator, teacher trainer, and podcaster with a Master's in TESOL and over 15 years of experience. She serves as Bridge's Expert Series Moderator and an instructor in Bridge's graduate-level TEFL program, the IDELTOnline™. Throughout her career, Shey has held leadership roles in curriculum development and program administration at U.S. universities and non-profits, facilitated digital exchanges for global English teachers, and delivered professional development workshops in Argentina, Bangladesh, and China.
