Summer Peixoto
With over 20 years of experience in teaching and training, Ms. Peixoto is an established professional in international education. During her time as an Academic Program Associate at the University of Kansas, she taught a variety of courses in the Intensive English Program and the English for Academic Purposes program. She also managed two language labs, helped design new online curricula, and assisted in developing and teaching a TEFL Certificate Course. Ms. Peixoto has contributed her expertise in teaching and educational technology training to various university and State Department-related programs, including the Brazil English Teachers Program (PDPI), the Vietnamese Teachers Program, Project Jayhawk, Fulbright, and Hubert Humphrey Fellows. She is a veteran of the Fulbright National Screening Committee and the KU Fulbright Campus Committee, as well as a former trainer for Fulbright English Teaching Assistants preparing for East Asia and Eastern Europe. Summer began her career with English Language Programs in 2008 as Fellow in Manaus, Brazil, where she returned in May 2019 as a Specialist for the US State Department's English Language Programs to complete a digital storytelling project. Most recently, she was a Specialist in Vietnam, where she evaluated curricula, created online learning spaces, and trained trainers and teachers in a collaborative online Technology for English Teachers and Learners course. As a leader in the field, she has created and championed educational technology interest sections, supported colleagues in professional development, and served as a committed advocate for international education. Currently, she is working as a Specialist in Vietnam to develop curricula and training programs focused on project-based learning.
Shélynn Riel
Shélynn Riel is Bridge's Expert Series Moderator and regularly contributes articles and ELT news reports to the BridgeUniverse blog. She has served as an English language instructor for over a decade, a program coordinator in both university and community-based programs, and an English Language Fellow with the U.S. Department of State. Her interests include holistic teacher development, learner identity, and decolonial ethics in the language classroom. She is the co-creator of The Teacher Think-Aloud Podcast, which focuses on reflective practices for teachers around the world.
Bartek Janiak
Bartek Janiak is the Teacher Training & Assessment Senior Advisor for Pearson Global in Central and Eastern Europe, and has worked in the field of education for more than 10 years. Following graduation from the University of Lodz in the faculty of English language teaching, Bartek started his career as an ELT Representative. Due to Bartek's interest in the professional and personal development of human beings, Bartek completed additional studies at Kozminski University for Professional Coaching: methods and practice and Psychology of motivation at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. He has since gone on to present and run workshops at numerous educational and business events.
