The most effective educators are always learning – that’s why continuing professional development (CPD), through workshops or teacher training programs, is so important for English language teachers. These programs help teachers stay on top of the latest teaching methodology, learn actionable techniques to engage their students, and specialize their skills in relevant areas. In addition, CPD can support teachers who are tackling new challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, such as shifting to teaching English online or in a hybrid (online and in-person) setting.
The English Teacher Empowerment Scholarship, which will be granted to approximately 25 teachers, was created to provide English language educators in Argentina and Costa Rica with the skills they need to meet the challenges of shifting to the online or hybrid classroom, especially when teaching young learners and teens.
Scholarship recipients will receive:
Free enrollment in four Bridge online teacher professional development courses that address the specific needs of teaching English online and teaching English to young learners or teenagers. The courses included in the scholarship are:
These courses cover the latest teaching methodology as well actionable tips and techniques for the classroom. Recipients will have 9 months to complete all four courses.

Please note that you will not be asked to submit proof of eligibility in the scholarship application. However, scholarship finalists may be asked to provide proof of eligibility in the form of transcript documents and letters or recommendation.

The Collaboration Grant is a component of the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Fellowship Program, a U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) funded flagship program for emerging entrepreneurs and business leaders from the Western Hemisphere. YLAI empowers young leaders to advance their entrepreneurial ideas and strengthen economic and social development in their home communities and across the region. The Collaboration Grant supports the continued partnership among the network of YLAI alumni and U.S. partners. These grants will provide opportunities for continued virtual professional collaboration; and exchange of new strategies and approaches among 2021 YLAI Alumni and U.S. partners. The grants also reinforce emerging business partnerships with local entrepreneurs in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada to expand the program’s impact.
