No — and that’s deliberate. The IDELT runs on a 12-week cohort schedule with weekly due dates for readings, discussion posts, and assignments. Within each week you work whenever suits you — there’s no required log-in time — but the cadence is fixed, because the cohort moves together. If you want fully self-paced study, the 120-Hour Global TEFL Certificate is built for exactly that.
To take the IDELTOnline™ you must be 18 years or older with at least a high school diploma or the equivalent. If you are not a native English speaker, you must demonstrate English proficiency at a minimum of a C1 level (according to the Common European Framework (CEFR), or have earned the equivalent to an IELTS test score of 7.0.

As part of your IDELTOnline™ program, you will complete a “research summary and application” project. The goal is to take a deeper dive into a topic that interests you related to English language teaching. You may choose any topic (your instructor can help); it can be covered in your course or another, outside topic.
You will investigate the topic and write a 700–1,500-word paper that summarizes your findings and applies the research to a language instruction setting. Your instructor provides support as you prepare and complete the project. The project is done individually, but peers offer insights through the class discussion boards.
There are live sessions in the IDELTOnline™ program, but they’re optional. They’re a way to connect with your instructor and classmates on a deeper level and discuss questions and course topics.
There are a total of four live sessions (hosted on Zoom) during the 12-week program. At the beginning, you share your time zone and preferred meeting days and times. The instructor finds the best time across your class and informs everyone when sessions are scheduled.
If you cannot make a live session, it will be recorded for you to watch at your convenience, and you can ask your instructor questions afterward.
