Who We Are When We Speak: Identity and Intercultural Communication in Language Education
This seminar explores the dynamic interplay between identity construction and intercultural communication within the context of language education. Focusing on both teachers and learners, it examines how individuals negotiate, perform, and transform their identities in diverse intercultural settings. By highlighting the reciprocal relationship between language use and identity, the seminar emphasizes how communication practices are shaped by the
identities we bring into multilingual and multicultural encounters. Through theoretical insights, narrative inquiry, and reflective activities, participants will engage with key questions about who we are when we speak and how identity awareness can enrich language teaching and learning in globalized contexts.
