Teach Abroad Program Overview
In partnership with English Language Company (ELC), an international education organization based in Australia, BridgeTEFL is offering a 5-month paid internship in Vietnam! This internship program places English teachers into positions at language schools, government schools, vocational colleges, or universities throughout beautiful Vietnam. The program is a great fit for both new and experienced teachers since it includes TEFL certification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) for those who are not yet qualified, as well as job placement in Vietnam. Best of all, the internship includes housing, and teachers earn a competitive stipend equivalent to approximately $700 USD per month. No previous teaching experience is required!

About the Program and Center
Teaching placements are available throughout Vietnam, mostly in northern and central cities, such as Hanoi, Hue, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, and more. Though city preferences are taken into account, this program requires applicants to be flexible and adaptable, since teachers are ultimately placed where they are most needed.
During a weeklong orientation in Vietnam, you'll meet other interns, go on tours, and participate in activities. Vietnamese language and culture lessons are also included. You'll also be preparing for your internship during this week. After training and orientation, you'll begin your teaching position in a Vietnamese school. The students you teach can range in age depending on the type of school where you are placed, and teaching hours also vary accordingly.
About Teaching English in Vietnam
With more than 90 million inhabitants and an increasing need for English as its economy continues to grow, Vietnam has a stronger-than-ever demand for qualified English teachers. This rebounding economy has shined a spotlight on Vietnam within the Asian TEFL market, as foreign teachers add the country to their bucket list of dream teaching destinations. Wherever you teach, Vietnam is full of interesting places to explore on weekends or holidays. Check out the colorful local markets, visit stunning temples and pagodas, go trekking in the northern mountains, or take a boat ride among the limestone islands of the world-famous Ha Long Bay. Living and teaching in Vietnam offer plenty to discover!

Questions about Bridge Teach Abroad Programs?
No, teaching experience is not a requirement. We do recommend, however, that participants at least have an interest in teaching children.
Yes! We offer a reduced program fee for applicants who are already certified with at least 110 hours of training.
If accepted into the Teach in Vietnam Program, you will be enrolled in the 120-hour Bridge Master Certificate online TEFL course. You can work through this course at your own pace, completing the training before you arrive in Vietnam.
Yes, you will! Our partner, ELC, will help you with this process. Please keep in mind, however, that the fees for the visa and work permit will be the intern's responsibility.
Yes! Be sure to let us know at the time you apply, and the partner will make every effort to accommodate this request.
Placements are currently in either Northern Vietnam (Hanoi, Hai Phong, Halong City) or Central Vietnam (Hue, Vinh). Other locations are also possible. You'll learn your placement a few weeks before departure.
You may teach at any one of the following types of schools, with the specified aged students (teachers are placed at the school where they are most needed, so being flexible is key in this program):
1. Kindergarten (under 6 years)
2. Primary school (6-11 years)
3. High school (12-18 years)
4. University / college (18+ there are very few of these placements available)
5. Private English language institute (various age groups)
Probably. However, some schools share interns, so it's possible that you'll teach at more than one school.
These will vary from school to school, but you'll likely be teaching about 20 hours per week, in the classroom. There will also be prep time, meetings, and assessment. You'll be teaching lessons by yourself most of the time, rather than with a co-teacher. Classes focus on teaching "conversational English;" however, you'll also be teaching reading, writing, and listening.
This will vary from school to school, but you'll likely have a basically furnished room in a shared apartment or a guesthouse. Most accommodations include a small kitchen with cooking facilities, but please note that some accommodations may not. However, it is inexpensive and easy (not to mention delicious!) to eat out in Vietnam!
Accommodations will not have a TV with international channels, but most have Wi-Fi, though it may be slow. Interns should be aware that while the accommodations might be considered quite basic by Western standards, they are actually higher-end accommodations, by local standards.
The internship allowance is approximately USD $700 per month, paid in Vietnamese Dong by your placement school. You will also receive a USD $700 bonus upon successful completion of your internship!
You'll participate in a city tour, orientation to living and teaching in Vietnam, intro Vietnamese classes, and social activities. You'll also meet the onsite support team and any other interns, some of whom are going to the same placement location!
You'll receive accommodations in a central area in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi (depending on your orientation location) and meals are also provided. The school will pay for your travel from orientation to your placement location.
